MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. --

A Mount Holly teen is thanking firefighters for saving his life Friday.

Joshua Knapp, 18, was asleep upstairs when his home caught on fire Friday morning. His mother said she thought he was dead after the fire broke out.

But a volunteer firefighter ran up the stairs, without a hose through smoke and flames, and found the teen.

"I'd like to thank him in person," Knapp said of the firefighter."Thank you."

Knapp said he's grateful he can give his mother a hug.
