SEATTLE --

A woman who threw a burning firework at a raccoon to shoo it from her yard set off a brush fire that spread to a neighbor's property on Beacon Hill Wednesday afternoon, firefighters said.

The lit firework started a brush fire that burned up the wall of a shed on her neighbor's property and spread to the dry grass around the structure.

Firefighters responded to the scene in the 1700 block of South Angeline Street just after 2 p.m. and quickly put out the fire.

The woman, who did not want to be identified, told a KIRO 7 Eyewitness News photojournalist that raccoons have been bothering her for two years. She showed a photo of the animal she had taken on her cell phone.
