SACRAMENTO, Calif. --
Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson said Tuesday that up to 50 firefighters will be laid off after the latest negotiations fell through.
On Tuesday, city leaders rejected a last-ditch plan by firefighters to try and save jobs. The city said between 36 and 50 firefighters will be affected by the plan.
The firefighters' proposal would have involved a 5 percent pay cut across the board to save jobs, but Sacramento leaders said that's not enough.
