ATLANTA --
A three-alarm fire damaged several units at a northeast Atlanta townhome complex early Friday morning.
Fire department officials at the scene on Durant Place said they called in the three alarms because of light staffing at some fire houses responding to the fire. They blamed the light staffing on recent budget cuts.
The fire did "intense damage" damage to two units in one four-unit building, according to firefighters at the scene. The damage in one other unit in the building was described as "minor damage"; the fourth unit suffered "very little damage."
All of the residents escaped without injury.
