BARBERTON, Ohio --

A Barberton neighborhood got quite a wake-up call Sunday morning.

The fire department said it received numerous 911 calls at about 8:30 a.m. after a house on Prospect Street exploded.

The entire side of the home burned, and the windows were blown out. Firefighters said those inside the home somehow managed to get out.

"First units on scene made sure victims were out of house. One of the neighbors did help the victims get out of the house. Both victims were transported to Children's Hospital in Akron," said Lt. Steve Ionno.

NewsChannel5 was told one victim was admitted to the burn unit. The other was treated and released.

Firefighters are working with East Ohio Gas to figure out why the home exploded.
