Indiana Firefighters Injured When Truck Hits Ice
INDIANAPOLIS --
At least four firefighters were injured Friday morning when their fire truck skidded on an icy road and struck a tree.
The crash happened in the 7800 block of West 56th Street, in Eagle Creek Park, just after 11 a.m.
A Pike Township Fire Department crew was responding to a call about an injured person when the truck hit ice, causing the driver to lose control.
The truck careened off the road and into a tree. Some of the firefighters were trapped in the truck for a short time.
The extent of the firefighters' injuries was not immediately known. The truck had heavy damage.
Six people died and many more were injured in wrecks on icy Indiana highways Friday morning.
