MARTIC TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

A barn fire in Lancaster County Tuesday morning is a case of arson.

The two-story barn in the 1000 block of Susquehannock Drive was on the verge of collapsing when firefighters arrived at about 3 a.m., the Rawlinsville fire chief said.

The fire spread to the front wall of the farmhouse.

Steven Lapp and his family made it out of the home safely with the help of an employee who lives with them.

The family was able to save eight mules and two carriages that were in the barn.

But, hundreds of bales of tobacco and hay were destroyed.
