BOSTON --
Cambridge firefighters evacuated a building on Lexington Avenue early Tuesday after flames broke out and poured heavy smoke over the surrounding neighborhood.
There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
The fire was in a residential building at 72 Lexington Ave., a property that is listed as a three-unit apartment building. It was unclear how the blaze began, but it was reported at about 8:30 a.m.
Fresh Pond Parkway was closed between Huron Avenue and Brattle Street as a result of the fire. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
