An early morning fire caused thousands of dollars in damage Monday in North Fairmount.
Authorities said firefighters arrived at the three-story apartment building in the 2000 block of Weron Lane to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the second and third floors.
Several residents were trapped and had to be rescued, and one firefighter suffered a minor injury.
It took 52 firefighters an hour to extinguish the blaze, which remains under investigation.
Investigators estimated damage to the 34-unit apartment building at $200,000.
