BARGERSVILLE, Ind. --
The job of a Bargersville firefighter took a personal turn Monday afternoon when he came across his childhood home on fire.
Battalion Chief Mike Morris was checking his mailbox when he saw smoke coming from the nearby home, which is now owned by his brother, fire officials said.
Morris called into his station and firefighters from five surrounding departments were dispatched to the blaze.
Morris' brother -- Keith Morris -- was not home at the time. The fire was brought under control within 40 minutes, said Bargersville Community Fire Department Capt. Paul Bird.
The Morris brothers both grew up in the home. Damage was estimated at $220,000. The cause had not been determined Monday night.
