Boiler Sparks Fire at New Hampshire Hospital

A fire in the boiler room of Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth was quickly extinguished, fire officials said.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. --

A fire in the boiler room of Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth was quickly extinguished, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, and firefighters found smoke in the hospital's emergency department and a fire in the boiler room. Firefighters contained the fire in the boiler room and used fans to vent the smoke from the hospital.

Officials said there were no injuries to firefighters or anyone at the hospital. Some patients were moved to different locations of the hospital as a precaution.

Investigators said they believe the fire was caused by a boiler malfunction.
