ZIONSVILLE, Ind. --

A large fire raged Sunday afternoon at a Taylor Oil warehouse building in the 10000 block of Zionsville Road in Boone County.

The fire began in a building used to store petroleum-based products, such as gasoline, heating oil and used oil.

Fire officials said the warehouse was destroyed and that the fire will not burn out until late evening.

A Taylor Oil official said there was about 5,000 gallons of various products in the warehouse.

Firefighters heard a few small explosions shortly after the fire began.

Crews from Zionsville, Indianapolis and Fishers battled the blaze. No one was injured and there were no evacuations.

Winds gusting to 35 mph helped fan the flames and made it difficult for firefighters to get a handle on the blaze.

A tower of black smoke drifted to the north and northeast from the fire scene. A wind advisory had been posted earlier in the day.

Health officials were keeping tabs of air quality.

Smoke could be seen as far south as downtown Indianapolis shortly after the blaze began.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
