HOUSTON --
An 8-year-old girl was rescued from her burning home on Sunday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Houston firefighters said the girl was trapped in the fire at a home on Demaree Lane near Guinevere Street at about 9:15 a.m.
Neighbors said a mother was watching TV with her daughters when the fire started. The mother got her 6-year-old daughter out of the home and tried to go back in for her 8-year-old, but the flames were too intense.
Firefighters arrived and rushed inside to rescue the 8-year-old girl, who is deaf. She was found unconscious in a bedroom.
The girl received oxygen and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
