Connecticut Police Rescue Infant From Fire

One firefighter was injured in a fall.

WATERTOWN, Conn. --

Police saved a 1-year-old baby after flames erupt in a two-family home in Watertown.

The fire broke out at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday at 25 Edgewood Road.

Responding firefighters saw flames leaping from the building. The fire rose from the basement to the first floor.

The basement tenant was not home at the time of the fire.

A mother and four children lived on the first floor.

Police rescued the 1-year-old. The mother and the other three children got out safely.

The extent of the damage to the home is severe.

One firefighter was injured in a fall. The firefighter was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

It took about half an hour to get the fire under control.
