Children Escape 3-Alarm Ohio Fire
CINCINNATI --
Two children are lucky to be alive after a fire at their Lincoln Heights home.
Firefighters were called out to the three-alarm fire at a home in the 1000 block of Matthews Drive at about 6:35 p.m.
Investigators said that two children, ages 4 and 11, knocked over a lamp, setting off the fire.
The children called their mother, who told them to throw water on it, but it didnt work, firefighters said.
Firefighters spotted the fire from their station before anyone called 911 and raced to the home.
When fire crews arrived, they said that flames could be seen from the second floor.
Seven departments were called out to fight the blaze. Firefighters said that the children made it out OK.
Investigators havent given a damage estimate yet but did say that there is extensive damage to the rear of the home.
