Virginia Firefighters Respond to Blaze at Training Academy

Arlington County firefighters responded to a blaze at their own training academy on Jan. 16.

Arlington County firefighters responded to a blaze at their own training academy on Jan. 16, according to the department's Web site.

The call game in at approximately 9 p.m. and as units approached the scene; they realized a structure called "The Hut" and the pumper that it houses where on flames. Crews began to attack the fire and shortly after it was knocked down, the fuel tank on the pumper exploded.

Crews then used foam to contain and extinguish the fuel fire. The Arlington Fire Marshals Office was on the scene to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.
