Maryland Firefighter Seriously Hurt

He fell through a floor at a house fire in Rockville.

ROCKVILLE, Md. --

A firefighter is in serious condition after falling through the floor of a home while battling a blaze in Rockville.

The fire broke out at a house in the 200 block of Frederick Road at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

While battling the blaze, firefighters found heavy fire coming from the basement of the home. The first floor then collapsed and a 23-year-old firefighter fell to the home's basement.

The firefighter was transported to a local hospital.

No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
