California Crews Battle Fire in Vacant Dwelling

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --

Early Friday morning, the Bakersfield Fire Department and the Kern County Fire Department responded to a report of structure fire at a duplex apartment.

Crews reported heavy smoke and fire emitting from the interior of the apartment.

After forcing entry into the apartment, crews stopped the advance of the fire.

There were no injuries and the house was vacant at the time of the fire.

The fire appears to be suspicious and is under investigation by the BFD Arson Unit.
