BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --
A historic part of Kern County's agricultural past went up in flames Thursday night.
Firefighters were called to the home on Wible Road near Pumpkin Center just before 6 p.m.
Crews said the farm house, which dates back to the 1920s, was engulfed in flames.
Because there were no hydrants nearby, crews had to shuttle water to the remote location, making the fire difficult to fight.
Capt. Chris Hoover of the Kern County Fire Department said that upon arrival no one was around, but they checked for people inside the structure.
No one was inside the home and no one was injured.
Fire officials are still searching for a cause.
