North Carolina Firefighter Struck at Crash Scene

Officials with the High Point Fire Department said the firefighter's injuries weren't serious and he was later released.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. --

A High Point firefighter who was responding to the scene of a crash on Business 40 westbound near Bunker Hill Road Tuesday morning was struck by a passing vehicle at about 8:20 a.m. as he stepped out of his vehicle.

The firefighter, whose name isn't being released to the media, was taken to High Point Regional Hospital to be treated.

Officials with the High Point Fire Department said his injuries weren't serious and he was later released.

The man who was driving the car that hit the firefighter was charged with a failure to move over violation.
