EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio --

A fire broke out Saturday at an East Cleveland apartment building.

Officials said the fire started just after noon on the sixth floor of the Lake Park Tower on Superior Avenue.

One resident said that smoke was filling the building. Residents were escorted outside and then taken to the Martin Luther King Civic Center.

Fire officials said it was an electrical fire. There is currently no power in the building. The fire was contained to a small area, but smoke and water caused more damage.

East Cleveland Mayor Eric Brewer lives in the building.

Fire officials are investigating the blaze.
