Rooftop Rescue Saves Two in Pennsylvania

All four people were taken to West Penn Hospital with respiratory problems.

PENN HILLS, Pa. --

A fire prompted a rooftop rescue at a home in Penn Hills Monday night.

The fire happened around 11:30 p.m. along Frankstown Road.

Firefighters said when they arrived at the home, the basement, the first floor and the second floor were all engulfed in flames.

Penn Hills Fire Department Chief Joe McMeekin said, "We found two people in the parking lot next door. Two people were on a roof, which were rescued off by a neighbor."

All four people were taken to West Penn Hospital with respiratory problems. Their names and conditions are not known.

Firefighters said the flames started in the basement.
