CARMEL, Ind. --

One person was killed Thursday night in a fire at a home in the 11200 block of Westfield Boulevard.

Firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames when they arrived just before 10 p.m.

The victim was found inside the home and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. That person was later pronounced dead.

The victim's identity was not immediately released. A dog and two cats were also found dead in the home.

Investigators said they found numerous unsafe electrical issues inside the home.

Fire crews said they think wiring from the basement electrical box might have caused a fire in the floor that spread to the living area of the home.
