North Carolina Chief Announces Retirement

Greensboro Chief Johnny Teeters announced Monday he will retire Dec. 15, 2008.

The city of Greensboro will soon begin the search for a new fire chief, after Chief Johnny Teeters announced Monday he will retire Dec. 15, 2008.

Teeters has served with the Greensboro Fire Department since 1964.

He was named fire chief in 1999.

Under his leadership, the Greensboro Fire Department has achieved a class one rating from the National Insurance Services Offices, making Greensboro the only city in North Carolina to achieve that honor.
