BOSTON --

A three-alarm fire in Milford heavily damaged five business and two apartments on Wednesday.

The fire, at 114-118 Main St., a three-story building, started shortly after midnight and the scene was not cleared until 7 a.m., Lt. Paul DiAntonio told the Milford Daily News.

A 68-year-old woman living in one of the apartments was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center for smoke inhalation and has been released, the paper said. No other injuries were reported.

A hair salon suffered the worst damage, DiAntonio said. A travel agency, real estate office, tax consultant and language center were also damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Bellingham, Ashland, Hopedale, Franklin and Hopkinton helped battle the blaze.
