Firefighter Hurt at Colorado Fire

ARVADA, Colo. --

An Arvada firefighter was injured while trying to extinguish a house fire early Wednesday morning.

Neighbors called for help when they saw flames shooting from the basement of the home at 14446 W. 57th Place.

A man who was in the home when the fire broke out just before 2 a.m. was able to escape. He was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

The firefighter injured his back while fighting the fire. He was also taken to a hospital for observation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimate was immediately available.
