An Avilla firefighter suffered internal injuries after a fire department grass truck rolled over on Nov. 17, according to an Indiana State Police statement.

Four firefighters were responding to a reported crash at approximately 11:35 a.m., when their 2002 Ford F-350 fishtailed and failed to recover. The vehicle rolled over twice before resting upright on all four tires, according to the statement.

The driver of the truck, Firefighter Terry L. Brazzell, refused medical treatment while the other front passenger, Jonathan Castro, was uninjured.

Firefighter Dennis Dancer, a passenger in the rear of the truck, was transported by EMS to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for internal injuries.

The other rear passenger, Firefighter John Wakeman, was treated at the scene for a laceration to his left hand.

The statement said that the roads were wet at the time of the rollover and that all four firefighters were wearing their seat belts.

The crash is still under investigation.
