A resident and a firefighter were injured this morning when fire broke out a home east of Laurel.
The fire was reported at 10:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of Trussum Pond.
When Laurel, Delmar and Gumboro firefighters arrived, flames were coming from the attic area, said Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Randall Lee.
One man was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford for treatment of smoke inhalation.
A firefighter was also taken to the hospital with burns to his neck and back, Lee said.
The home was equipped with working smoke detectors.
An investigation determined that the fire started in the attic.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Damage was estimated at $150,000.
