OMAHA, Neb. --
Firefighters from three communities spent Friday evening battling a fire inside the offices of the Valley News Today in downtown Shenandoah.
The fire started just after 6 p.m. with flames spreading through the building. Firefighters evacuated a city block in Shenandoah while they worked to keep the blaze from spreading to other buildings housing an office supply store, a radio station, a hair salon and a theater.
By nine o'clock, smoke continued to pour from the building, as firefighters attacked the blaze from two sides of the structure.
Shenandoah, Essex and Farragut volunteer fire departments responded to the fire. No injuries are reported.
Firefighters expected to remain on the scene into Saturday.
Damage to the newspaper building was extensive.
