CINCINNATI --
An elderly woman was killed Friday afternoon when fire consumed her home in Saint Bernard.
Additional crews were called in from Norwood to battle the blaze around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Moeller Avenue and Broerman Avenue.
Thick smoke from the fire was visible for miles near Interstate 75 and the Norwood Lateral.
She was 96 (years old), we knew her time was going to come, but not like this -- this is horrible, said neighbor Nichole Berrenkamp, whose house sustained some damage when the fire spread. Just a beautiful caring woman, good mother and a good grandmother.
The womans name was not released by authorities, who continue to investigate how the blaze might have started.
