CLAREMONT, N.H. --
The State Fire Marshal's Office said two females died in a house fire in Claremont.
The two-alarm fire was reported at 3:19 a.m. Thursday. Flames were reportedly coming from the basement area when crews arrived. It took firefighters from several surrounding communities about 90 minutes to get the flames under control, but it was too late to save everyone inside.
Investigators said seven or eight people were living inside the single family home at 12 Cottage Street.
Claremont Fire Chief Peter Chase said for some reason there was a delay in reporting the fire because the home is located less than a mile away from the fire station.
The Red Cross contacted the family. Donations can be made to the New Hampshire West Chapter of the American Red Cross at their Court Street office in Keene. Or you can call 1-800-244-2214.
