COCOA, Fla. --
A witness risked his life to save a stranger along a busy Central Florida highway on Wednesday.
A pickup truck ran off the BeachLine Expressway in Brevard County and overturned in a shallow ditch.
Authorities said the driver was unconscious, upside down and still wearing a seat belt while her head was underwater.
Aaron Jennings, of Orlando, is a retired firefighter and saw the accident happening.
Jennings' brother helped him break the glass, and Jennings went down head first into snake-infested water, entered the truck and freed the unconscious woman.
"She comes to, she spit out water, and she's fine to this day ... I'm happy, man, what can I say?" Jennings said.
The victim was able to talk to investigators at the scene before being transported to Wuesthoff Hospital.
Jennings said he doesn't believe the victim would have survived if he hadn't been there.
