GRAHAM, Wash. --
A Graham garage was destroyed in an overnight fire.
Firefighters said they arrived to find flames shooting 20 to 30 feet in the air because of gasoline and a number of propane tanks stored in the structure.
The propane tanks exploded. About three of them went off at different times. So we did what we call a defensive attack. We stood back and put a lot of water on it until it went out and kept ourselves safe and protected the primary home, said Robert Park with Graham Fire and Rescue.
Video from KIRO 7 news crews showed a charred frame was all that remained of the original structure.
Firefighters said freezing conditions made the fire difficult to extinguish.
Authorities said the homeowner had also tried to put out the fire, but when he went to use his garden hose, it was frozen.
There is no word yet on what ignited the fire.
