LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. --
Firefighters had to force a woman from her burning home as tried to stay behind to gather her possessions.
When Lauderdale Lakes firefighters arrived at 4129 Northwest 52nd Ave. Wednesday morning, smoke was coming from the attic. Fire fighters found the homeowner still inside and ended up physically removing her.
She was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire was contained to the attic but the home was badly damaged by smoke and water, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the homeowner.
