WASHINGTON --

Firefighters were called to battle an early morning two-alarm fire in the District.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday at J.P.'s Nightclub in the 2400 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Northwest.

Wisconsin Avenue has been shut down between Hall Road and Calvert Street.

Fire officials said a club manager was on the roof when firefighters arrived and had to be rescued.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter said the strip club fire spread to two adjoining buildings, including a laundromat.

There has been no word of any injuries nor on how the fire may have started.

The incident remains under investigation.

Etter said that Wisconsin Avenue would remain closed until about 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
