DENVER --

Frisco firefighters were able to stop a small fire from growing despite being initially sent to the wrong address, authorities said Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to 200 Galena St. in Frisco on a report of light smoke coming from the entryway of a multifamily lodge. When firefighters arrived, they saw no smoke and called dispatch to confirm the address, said Brandon Williams of Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue.

It turned out the firefighters were on the wrong side of the city. The person who reported the fire said it was on the east side of Frisco, but didnt know where.

"The lieutenant on scene immediately rerouted all incoming units to the east side of Frisco," Williams said. "Heavy snowfall greatly complicated tracking down light smoke at an undetermined location, a situation which would have otherwise been easily observable under normal conditions."

Eventually firefighters found the fire at 200 Seventh Ave., where they found a small fire in the floor underneath a hot tub boiler just off the entryway, Williams said.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly and damage was limited, he said.

"While there was only minor damage in this instance, it certainly highlights the need for anyone reporting an emergency to 911 Dispatch to know the location to which emergency crews should respond," said Lake Dillon Fire Battalion Chief Davis.
