Explosion at Pennsylvania Gas Compressor Building

No injuries have been reported and firefighters are still battling the flames in southern Fayette County.

FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. --

A fire -- reportedly caused by an explosion -- spread from a Columbia Gas compressor building to an adjacent building and knocked down power lines in Springhill Township.

The Friday morning fire on Route 857/Springhill Furnace Road is now contained to the second building, located in a quarry-type area.

Laurel Aggregates, Inc. owns the second building. A company profile on the Internet says it sells crushed or broken limestone and other building materials for residential and business.

No injuries have been reported. Firefighters are still battling the flames in southern Fayette County, near the West Virginia line.

Allegheny Power representatives are also headed to the fire scene because of the damage that was done to power lines.
