PADDOCK LAKE, Wis. --
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said a dryer is to blame for starting a fatal fire early Friday morning. A 48-year-old woman was killed.
A Kenosha County Sheriff's deputy said he smelled smoke around 1 a.m. Friday in the area. He and other deputies checked the area and located the house where the smoke was coming from on 76th Street near Highway 50.
The deputy said the fire appeared to have been smoldering for quite some time. Investigators said it appeared the victim was overcome by the smoke and fumes.
Firefighters also found a dog in the home and revived the dog with oxygen.
