WRIGHTSVILLE, Pa. --
Fire officials are calling an early Sunday morning fire that destroyed a historic hotel in Wrightsville, York County arson.
Police said 32-year-old Tommy Drowatsky of Wrightsville admitted to starting the fire by using a aerosal can and a lighter. Police also said Drowatsky is a resident of the hotel.
The Hometown Hotel on the 100 block of Hellam Street was destroyed. Surrounding homes also suffered smoke and water damage. The hotel dates back to the 1850s.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 5:30 a.m. Smoke could be seen for miles.
Firefighter Injured
A firefighter was injured while on the scene. Officials said he may have broken his leg. One person was also injured and was taken to the hospital.
The Red Cross is assisting more than 30 people at the Wrightsville Fire Hall.
The Route 462 bridge had to be closed for hours and it is now open again.
Drowatsky is at the York County Judicial Center in police custody.
Damage is estimated at $500,000.
