SACRAMENTO, Calif. --
A heroic mobile home park manager saved a blind and wheelchair-bound woman from a burning mobile home on Thursday.
Homeowner Sylvia Wilkinson was struggling to get her mother out the door in a wheelchair when park manager Joe Castaneda came by. He carried the woman out of the burning home.
"Thank you for ... to get my parents and the kids and the animals out of the house," Wilkinson said.
Castaneda said it took about 30 seconds for the room the woman was in to go up in flames.
Wilkinson, her two elderly parents and two children were inside when the fire broke out.
Two birds died in the blaze.
One person suffered minor injuries.
The mobile home park is in the 3500 block of Bradshaw Road.
Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
