WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas -- A Lockheed Martin firefighter was transported to the Harris Hospital for possible exhaustion while battling a blaze.

Firefighter Margene Adkins went down during a two-alarm apartment fire at the Beacon Hill Apartments on Las Vegas Trail.

Before becoming a firefighter Adkins played in the NFL and was a member of the Dallas Cowboys 1971 Super Bowl championship team.

The fire displaced four families and did over $225,000 in damages to four units in the building. All of the residents escaped unharmed.

The cause was under investigation by the Tarrant County fire marshal, according to Assistant Chief Brian Hekele.
