JONESBORO, Ga. --

Clayton County firefighters kept busy overnight, as they rescued a man trapped inside a burning apartment.

He was one of two people injured in a fast-moving fire that tore through the Evergreen Apartment Homes in Jonesboro at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

"Flames were through the roof and had already consumed about half of the roof line," said Landry Merkison with the Clayton County Fire Department.

Firefighters also said they found a 7-month-old baby with an injured cheek. Rescuers took the baby to Southern Regional. The baby is said to be doing well.

Firefighters said the trapped man was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

"Our units made and aggressive attack and rescued that victim. He was resuscitated on the way to hospital and he's now at Grady and doing well," said Merkison.
