Florida Haz Mat Crews Help Battle Storage Tank Fire

Firefighters were called Friday morning to a fire in a storage tank.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --

Firefighters were called Friday morning to a fire in a storage tank in the 5200 block of Shawland Road.

While no information was released about the contents of the tank, Jacksonville Fire-Rescue Division's hazardous-materials team was called to the scene.

There have been no calls for evacuations, but police have closed Shawland Road between Ellis Road and Edgewood Avenue.

At 9:45 p.m., JFRD spokesman John Bracey said the fire is under control and no one has been injured.

Channel 4 has a crew at the scene. This story will be updated as more information becomes available, with a live report on the local station at noon.
