ISLAMORADA, Fla. --

Parts of an upper Keys neighborhood were damaged just before 4 a.m. Wednesday morning when a tornado appears to have touched down, damaging homes, cars, boats and trees on several streets.

Iroquois Drive, Palm Drive, Sunset Drive, Bayview Drive - all at the 74 mile marker of U.S. 1 - had reports of damage and power lines down.

One man called sheriff's dispatchers to report his sliding glass doors "blown out" and part of his stairs possibly missing.

Deputies and officers from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission who responded to the area reported flooding and initially had a hard time getting to the damaged area because of the standing water and downed power lines that made it too dangerous to enter.

Florida Keys Electric was called to the scene and firefighters responded as well.

Officers said that on Palm Drive some vehicles were moved and a boat was flipped over, as well as some structural damage to buildings there.

There does not appear to be any injuries as a result of the incident. Officers and firefighters are still at the scene.

As of 5:30 a.m., the tropical storm warning was lifted for the Keys, however winds will continue throughout the day so if you are traveling on the Overseas Highway, be very careful, particularly when crossing bridges. Gusting winds can make driving difficult.
