BOULDER, Colo. --

A Boulder man was in critical condition Monday after firefighters pulled him from his burning home.

The unidentified man was rescued after a fire broke out in his kitchen at about 9:20 p.m. Sunday.

When firefighters arrived at the home in the 500 block of South 41st Street, neighbors told them they believed the man was work, but a quick search of the home revealed a television on in the bedroom and a more intensive search was conducted in the smoke-filled house.

The man, who appeared to be in his 50s, was found on the living room floor and was pulled from the home by a firefighter.

No smoke detectors were found in any of the home's primary living areas, according to firefighters.

The man's identity has not been released.
