WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. --
Two police officers and a firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries while rescuing an unconscious woman from a burning house in West Yarmouth just after midnight Tuesday.
Crews responded to reports of a house fire at 14 Bradford Rd. about 12:40 p.m. and found a smoke-filled home on fire.
Yarmouth Police K9 Patrol Officer Marc Thibeault ran into the house and carried out an unconscious woman whose name has not been released.
Thibeault and another officer administered first aid and CPR until other emergency crews arrived.
The victim was revived and taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Once stablized she was flown by helicopter to the burn unit at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was suffering extensive, life-threatening burns, police said.
She was the only person in the dwelling.
The two officers and firefighter were treated for minor injuries at Cape Cod Hospital and were expected to be released.
Fire officials said the home was destroyed and the blaze was under investigation.
Anyone with information about the fire was asked to contact the Massachusetts State Police or the State Fire Marshal at 978-567-3310 or Yarmouth police Det. Stephen Renzi at 508-775-0445.
