DAVIE, Fla. --

Drivers who get into crashes in some cities in Broward County could have to pay a fee if new resolutions are passed.

According to published reports, the city of Davie is looking to vote on whether to bill non-resident drivers who are cited in collisions that require police and rescue firefighters.

Plantation, Miramar and Southwest Ranches are reported to be looking into similar proposals.

If approved, Davie might charge at-fault, non-resident drivers with an average of $840 per wreck. The new fees would cover the costs of emergency personnel, air rescue, equipment and services used to help those involved in the crash.

Plantation and Southwest Ranches have not yet decided who would be subject to the fee.
