HOUSTON --
Firefighters were rescued from a burning southeast Houston home late Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
A woman and two teenagers noticed their mother's bedroom was on fire at the home on Garland Drive near Bliss Street shortly before 11 p.m.
"My little brother went running to me and he's like, 'Something happened to her room,'" Rebecca Guerra said. "I just went to go check it out and all you could see was big flames coming out of the room."
Some of the firefighters ended up trapped inside the home and had to be rescued by other firefighters.
"When the first crew made entry they had the attic stairs fall down on top of them, which impeded their progress of putting the fire out," District Chief Larry Schullind said. "We had another crew break through a wall and they were able to help them get through there with the line and put the fire out."
Guerra and her siblings made it out of the home without injury. The mother was not home because she was at work.
The home sustained significant damage. No neighboring homes were damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
