CASSELBERRY, Fla. --
Firefighters raced to a fatal mobile home fire in Fern Park, Tuesday morning.
Crews had to work fast to keep the fire on Goldies Fern Way from spreading to other homes. One person was reported dead.
The State Fire Marshal arrived at the mobile home park around 6:30 Tuesday morning to investigate whether or not the weather played a role in the deadly blaze. Investigators would not say if the fire was suspicious or not.
One person was reported dead by firefighters, while two others were transported to Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs. They were initially diagnosed with smoke inhalation when they tried to go back in side the burning home and rescue someone trapped inside.
Several eyewitnesses said that many people tried to go inside the burning home to rescue the person found dead.
"I ran to her door and she was thrown on the floor, so I grabbed her and pulled her out. I screamed at her asking if anyone else was in the trailer. I don't know if she spoke English because I couldn't understand her, so I started pulling the screens out so I could see, but it was just too much," said Hector Vidal of his attempt to save the people inside the burning trailer.
Flames destroyed one mobile home damaged two surrounding homes. Many who live in the mobile home complex were evacuated as the fire started to spread.
