The top five videos and top five photo stories of 2007 compiled by the Firehouse.com staff.

Over the past year, Firehouse.com has taken visitors inside some of the biggest stories that have affected the fire service.

In 2007, a new facet was added to the site: the Firehouse Video Network. The video player has allowed a place for visitors to watch training videos, product spotlights and raw footage of incidents.

While the video network has quickly gained steam, the Photo Story section has remained one of the main attractions of the site.

Here are the top five videos and top five photo stories of 2007 compiled by the Firehouse.com staff through the use of traffic statistics for the Web site:

1. Charleston Tragedy

Freelance videographer John Pundt submitted this video from the June 16 sofa warehouse blaze in which nine Charleston firefighters lost their lives.

2. Houston Mayday

This incident itself occurred on March 28, but the video wasn't released until August by the Web site TheBravestOnline.com.

3. Beaumont, Texas Flashover

Raw video of this Dec. 17 flashover was provided by the Beaumont Fire Department. In less than a month, this video has become one of the most popular on the Firehouse Video Network.

4. Baltimore Church Fire

Firehouse.com's Peter Matthews was on the scene of this three alarm blaze at the Gateway Church of Christ in west Baltimore on July 24.

5. Eastern Market Fire, Washington, D.C.

Jim Davis contributed this video of the April 30 blaze in Washington, D.C. that destroyed the 114-year-old Eastern Market.

Top Photo Stories

1. Seat Belts Save Illinois Firefighters

John L. Smith submitted photos from this Nov. 26 incident in which two Limestown Township, Ill. volunteers were injured in a fire engine rollover.

The engine left the road way after sliding on an ice-covered bridge and rolled over one time, and came to rest on its wheels. Both firefighters credited the use of seat belts for saving them from serious injury.

2. Canadian Firefighter Ejected after Engine Collides with Rig

Anthony Paquet submitted photos in which a Quebec City fire truck struck a semi-trailer on June 12.

The firefighter was ejected from the cab of the truck and was rushed to a hospital by paramedics. He suffered broken bones and injuries to his face.

3. 5 Alarmer in the City of Pittsburgh

Eric L. Rasmussen submitted photos a this Feb. 1 fire in which a four-unit row house burned in the city of Pittsburgh.

4. California Firefighters Respond to MVA

Jeff Hall submitted photos from this San Marcos, Calif. motor vehicle accident in October. Once crews arrived on scene they found a pickup that had come off a freeway and into light pole.

Firefighters used numerous power tools including hydraulic rescue tools to extricate the victim in about 30 minutes.

5. Residential Structure Fire Started By a Child

Jim Hoffler sent in these photos of a Jan. 24 residential fire in Portsmouth,Va. All occupants escaped safely prior to arrival of fire units.
